Are you ready to say goodbye to 2011 and welcome 2012?
...well, ready or not here it comes!
...well, ready or not here it comes!
A little history before we start. This celebration started some 4000 years ago by the Babiloans. They celebrated for 11 years the beginning of spring. Egyptians and Romans had their own traditions as well. But it wasn't until the emperor Julius Caesar that decided to mark the beginning of the year as January 1st. The first known celebration of New Year's occurred in Chile on 1671.
After a little of that, I will like to now give you some fun rituals to do to welcome the new year.
After a little of that, I will like to now give you some fun rituals to do to welcome the new year.
1. In my family, the one tradition that cannot fail is making a list of things that we want to burn from 2011(like any negative or painful incident) and not have it be part of our new year, 2012. Second step, we make a list of things of what we want from 2012 and save the note throughout the year. I keep it in my wallet so I can keep reminding my self. Third step, we burn the paper of the things we don't want and the old list from the year before. It is a fun ritual to renew ourselves from the past and welcome the future.
2. Are you single or in a relationship? Either way wear red panties to have love in the new year.
3. Don't forget to eat the 12 grapes right at midnight, and make a wish for each one. This is a hard one, but it is always so fun to hurry up and do it.
4. Who doesn't want to have more money for the new year? To attract a wealthier year wear money in your shoes. Another way is to have your pockets full of money.
5. If you want to make your 2012 the year of travel, then grab some baggage and take them outside and then bring them back inside.
6. For the spiritual ones, they say that if you turn all the lights of the house that you are at for new years helps you achieve a higher spirituality.
7. To bring all new positive things in your life wear something new and white on New Year's Eve.
8. Colored candles: blue for peace, red for passion, green for health, and white for clarity.
9. To take out all negativity, tears and sadness out of your life; fill a glass with water and trow it outside your window.
10. Two minutes before midnight open the door of your house and say goodbye to the old year and all that you don't want from the new year. At midnight, closed the door with positive thoughts for the new year.
11. For happiness and good energy wear something yellow.
12. Want lots of new clothes for 2012? wear your underwear turned around. Of course, this is the most special to me ;)
Have fun with these rituals and more importantly, believe if you really wish for any of them to come true they will.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
